Seoul is probably one of the most visited cities amongst my friends.
Who doesn't know where is Myeongdong and what is the DMZ and the Seoul Tower?
This is why one of the objectives for this exchange in Seoul is to be able to find hidden gems here that are off the typical tourist routes. To explore and find my way around this place like a local can.
What better way than to be brought around by one?

I met my friend, Jihyun, at Children's Grand Park Station. Immediately I was like, FINALLY, a station I've never heard of. I still have no idea why it's called that.
*Edit* Located at Children's Grand Park Station is a Zoo, Amusement parks, Botanical Gardens and several other attractions I suppose appeal mainly to children.
So I was brought here because I haven't had Korean BBQ since I touched down on Saturday. She just so happens to have some good friends who work at this Korean BBQ joint near Konkuk University. (Thus, Staff Discount)

There was also a bowl of Naengmyeon 냉면 (Cold Buckwheat Noodles) and Soondubu Jjigae 순두부찌개 (Spicy Tofu Stew). Everything was so good! I even loved the salt dip so much I asked her friend where to buy it. He then looked really confused because you can't actually buy it, and tried to explain the ingredients needed to mix in all the English he could muster.
They say there is always a second stomach just for Dessert. We headed quite a distance to Konkuk University Station where we reached this place called Sulbing Korean Dessert Cafe. On the way there I realised that this area is also full of street shops and attractions for University students after school.
We had Patbingsu 팥빙수, which is a popular dessert here in Korea. Back in Singapore the closest would probably be Ice Kachang or Taiwanese Shaved Ice. BUT THE ONES HERE ARE REALLY GOOD.
We had the Blueberry Patbingsu with Cheesecake Chunks. Not only are the sizes deceiving from the pictures, the constituents are mind blowing as well. It's not only shaved ice. The ice are made of sweetened milk and every sheet of ice seems to be sprinkled with fine sugar in between. As if that's not enough, condensed milk is served at the side to pour over the ice when you're just left with it. The generous servings of blueberries and cheesecake chunks really make this one of the best desserts I've had. Though I can probably imagine how much calories are in here.
After I posted this picture on Facebook so many of my friends gave me feedback with their own recommendations of places to have Patbingsu, really shows how much this dessert has charmed everyone.
Sigh. I really need to exercise to keep up with this intake.
